Timmy LIKES hummus

Want to see proof?

Okay, so he looks a little hummus drunk. Sue me!

We found some gluten free apple and cinnamon flavored hummus, and smeared some on a sizeable chunk of apple. Timmy loves to chew on apples, and I figured it was a lovely taste and protein to boot. After a rocky start to solids, Timmy has followed eagerly in the footsteps of his big brother and tries to eat everything we eat. He loves cereal (Gorilla Munch is a big fave), apple chunks, carrots, peas, and oh good Lord, his love for steak! Unreal. Oh, and avocado! But hummus...that's another thing entirely. Not only can you eat it, you can smear it head to foot and make mothers and grandmothers shake in their boots at the sheer mess. No wonder he's grinning...

National Aquarium at Baltimore

We went to NAtional Aquarium in Baltimore today. The weather was glorious...luckily we thought ahead and prepurchased tickets because apparently everyone else had the same weather appreciation we did and the lines were already built up to 2 pm and after entry times. We walked around the waterfront and looked at all the "boats" for Connor, and got in at 1130. We admired lots of animals...the ray pool is our favorite!...and then went off the dolphin show. Connor was blown away. Here's a montage I created for him. Timmy nursed during the finale so unfortunately I didn't get any of that.

Timmy loved the show too. I think he thought all the clapping was for him!

Here's Connor's excited "amazing, bee-oo-tiful!" face!

I have more pics...but no time to upload them tonight!

Easter!

Mommy...umm, I mean the Easter Bunny...went a little too crazy for Easter. We always did a few toys instead of tons of candy in my family, but Connor and Timmy got quite a bit of both this time. Maybe some of it was missing daddy, and some of it was just plain forgetting all I had already gotten, but they did get some pretty neat stuff!

Connor got some Super Why paraphernalia and Disney buses, as well as a t ball set and candy. The t ball set is defective so we have to take it back to the store. But the Super Why stuff and one of the Disney bus sets was a huge hit!

Here's Connor "reading" his new Super Why book.

Timmy got a musical animal jungle toy and some new rattles -- he LOVES anything that rattles -- and he very happily observed Connor hunt eggs.

Luray Caverns Visit

Okay, time to catch up on the last few weeks! Sorry it's taken me so long to update pictures, but it's been very busy lately and that's my excuse! I was working on a big project -- tearing down wallpaper and painting the dining room -- in addition to the normal kid craziness around the house. Add in my girlfriend Kellie's baby's birth, struggles with 3 year old terrorists and a teething baby, I've been lucky that I make it out of the house with pants on some days.

A couple weeks ago, we hied ourselves off to Luray Caverns. It's about 1.5 hrs from Manassas and in the middle of Shenandoah country. Charlie and I had toured the Cave of the Winds in Colorado, and the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico so I was prepared to admire but not be overwhelmed. But all I can say is...wow. Amazing rock formations, enormous caverns filled with amazing stalagtites, and neat history to it. I do wish there was better explanations of some of the history stuff, but since Connor doesn't usually suffer anyone to linger long it wasn't a huge problem.

Here's a really neat cavern with super still water below...reflects in perfect mirror image.

Here's Pop at the organ of the rocks...it's this neat musical display that strikes different rock formations to make ringing beautiful music throughout the caverns.

Connor was convinced that we were going to be surprised by dinosaurs (the caverns did look eerily like the Dinosaur ride at DisneyWorld). The only way he would slow down enough in his determination to get away from "LOUD dinosores" was to listen to the audio tour over and over.

Connor as Super WHY!

Connor loves this relatively new PBS show "Super Why!" It's very cute and remarkably non annoying with 4 main characters: AlphaPig, WonderRed, Princess Presto, and Whyatt who becomes Super Why. They each have different powers, but SuperWhy has the power to read. Connor has redoubled his efforts to read everything he sees since getting hooked on this show. He had to wear his dinosaur rain boots and carry my Weight Watchers points calculator as his Super Computer in order to watch the show, because that's what Super Why wears.

Mommy and Nani had a brainstorm...and we ended up concocting a Super Why costume for Connor for less than $5! We bought some ribbon, a 1/2 yard of cotton for a cape, a $.29 piece of felt and voila! We have a creditable SuperWhy living in the house.

We might be living in our costume from now on...
