Guess who I'm married to?

Not only am I married to the 354 Operations Group Flight Commander of the Year, I am also the wife of the 11th Air Force Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Field Grade Officer of the Year!!!

Yeah, I'm that wife. But damn, I'm proud!

AND...his flight won 4/5 awards submtted to 11 AF, including Flight of Year for 4th year running!

Now on to PACAF...think good thoughts for Charlie so he can kick ass at command level!

Bicki-cycle Riding

Connor got a big boy bike last week as a special present from Pop. He has been extremely reluctant to ride it outside -- Connor gets sight pictures in his mind of the correct way to do something, and the only place he has seen bicycles ridden in the past six months is inside at a skate park. But lo and behold, we had some miraculous summery weather and children emerged to ride their bicycles outside this afternoon. Connor immediately wanted to do the same.

I was a little apprehensive -- Connor had never truly ridden anything other than a tricycle and because he's Andre the Giant Jr, that turned out to be more scooting than peddling as his knees knocked against his ears. Would he get frustrated that he couldn't zip around as efficiently as the grown up kids?

We had the help of an 11 yr old Cub Scout named Tyler who solemnly informed Nani that he "finds that kids learn best through demonstration." He oh so patiently instructed Connor how to push his feet so the pedals would go the correct direction to propel him forward. It was supremely funny (and 1% frustrating) for mom -- I was guiding his feet on the pedals, showing him step by step with clear short instructions how to do it as he huffed impatiently and got frustrated. Tyler pushed the back of the seat and said, "Now this foot, now this one. Now this foot. Good, now let's ride!" and Connor was off like a shot. Here's a couple of pics...

They played follow the leader and zoomed around the cul de sac many times over. Tyler's mom came out to fetch him for dinner and ended up chatting as we watched the speed racers. Tyler was wonderfully patient and sweet and I praised him to the skies to his mom for being so kind -- few older boys have much time for a younger child like that and it made a huge difference to Connor. He was so proud that he could keep up with Tyler! Eventually, Pop came home and we had pedaled all the way down the street to meet him -- and followed the car back to the house to tell Pop all about learning how to "bicki-cycle!"

The piece de resistance!

Need a laugh? Or three?

Timmy and Connor have some to spare. I don't know why this bathtime hilarity and hijinks was so amusing but it was a A+ comedy routine according to the kids! You can't not smile or even giggle after watching the two of them...
